Workshop for Adults 10 a.m. Workshop for Children 12 noon
SIGN UP TODAY: info@abbielibrary.org
Please join us for this third installation of the AGL+WREN collaboration. Photographer Barbara Perkins will discuss her work as a photo journalist and speak to photographic literacy. In addition, Barbara will discuss the technical side of photography and provide information about making better photos. Barbara would be happy to look at your photographic work (whether you have been taking photos for years or are just starting out) and give you feedback. You can show her your work on a cellphone or laptop. The children’s workshop will be a pared down version of the same with a focus on photo literacy and hands on photo editing with preexisting images.
Babs Perkins is a photographer, writer and educator from Norfolk, Connecticut. Her work is an exploration of context, memory, and place. She photographs landscape and creates fine-art works as a means to identify and clarify her own vision and voice. Thus allowing her to step aside and collect and convey the stories of others in her documentary photography. For the past 12 years she has been documenting the food producers of former Yugoslavia with a particular focus on the last makers of a traditional cheese produced along a chain of mountains spanning from south central Croatia, though southern Bosnia and Hercegovina, and on down to the high mountain pastures of central Montenegro.
