Abbie Greenleaf Library Mission Statement
As it has always been, the mission of Abbie Greenleaf Library is to provide to all people regardless of race, income, gender, sexual orientation or immigration status, library materials and services which fulfill the educational, informational, cultural and recreational needs of the community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful and professional.
Policies
The Abbie Greenleaf Library is free to all residents and taxpayers of Franconia, NH, and welcomes visitors. Non-residents can enjoy library privileges for an annual fee of $25.
A library card may be obtained by presenting to the librarian a driver’s license or other official document that reflects one’s local residential status. Non-residents must present a driver’s license or other valid photo ID. School-age children will be issued a library card after a parent or guardian signs a registration card accepting responsibility for the child’s borrowed library materials. “Kiddie” library cards that have no currency are available for the asking.
Library material may be borrowed for three weeks with the exception of DVDs which may be borrowed for three days. Borrowers will be financially responsible for loss or destruction of library property. Action will be taken in accordance with NH RSA 202-A:25. The library reserves the right to revoke library card privileges upon failure to comply with its rules and regulations. In addition to those stated below, these include repeated loss of or damage to library materials, disregard for proper conduct within the library and its grounds, and conduct deemed by the library directors to be a disturbance to patrons and staff.
The library reserves the right to curtail a patron’s use of the library or its services upon due cause, at the judgment of the Library Director and the Board of Trustees.
Rules
While inside the Abbie Greenleaf Library, please be respectful of fellow patrons and keep conversations and distracting activities to a minimum. Handle all library materials and digital devices with care and report any damaged library property to the librarian immediately.
Cellphone conversations and the consumption of food or beverages are prohibited inside the library.
Loitering, use of tobacco, electronic cigarettes or illegal substances in the building or on library grounds are prohibited.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Shoes and shirt are required inside the building.
Patrons are not allowed to bring dogs into building
Computer and Internet Use
The Library provides computer resources, including internet and wireless access, to people of all ages to further the pursuit of educational, personal and recreational interests.
The Library provides unfiltered wireless Internet connectivity offered as a service for users with wireless enabled devices. By choosing to use this free wireless service, you agree to abide by the Library’s Computer and Internet Use Policy that prohibits abusive or illegal activity while using the Library’s Internet service. The Internet is an unregulated medium that does not necessarily contain accurate, complete or current information. The Library does not filter or censor material on the internet. Users are encouraged to be good information consumers by evaluating the validity of information accessed via the internet. Patrons use the library’s computer resources at their own risk.
As with other library materials, children’s access to the Internet and electronic devices is the responsibility of parents and guardians.
